Hendrik Veder Group, the provider of products, services, and solutions for steel wire rope and synthetic rope, has announced it has the capability to prevent 42,000,000KG of emissions through its sustainable solutions. Through its ability to recycle steel wire rope, Hendrik Veder Group is expecting to avoid 42,000,000 kilograms of CO2 emissions and aiming to recycle enough steel between 2023 and 2026 that is roughly the equivalent of 950,000 bikes worth of steel – almost twice the number of total bikes that are in Scotland.

The project involves using ships to lay an underwater gas pipeline of around 275 kilometres in length. Hendrik Veder Group Solutions has been commissioned to install 3,000 metres of new, non-rotating hoisting rope into the crane of one of world’s largest pipe-laying vessels. Hendrik Veder Group offers specialised services that ensure this hoisting rope will be used in the most sustainable way possible. These services include Hendrik Veder Group’s full inspection of the wire rope on board. The replacement steel wire rope is 3,000 metres in length, with a diameter of 76 millimetres. It is treated with an environmentally friendly lubricant known as EAL.

As part of a prestigious new offshore project, Hendrik Veder Group has supplied two 114-mm non-rotating steel wire rope, both 350 metres in length, which are treated with sustainable Elaskon WR environmentally acceptable lubricant (EAL). This is the latest example of the Rotterdam-based company’s innovative process approach which focuses on increasingly sustainable methods for using wire rope and hoisting equipment. Hendrik Veder Group worked closely with its client to design steel wire rope reels specifically for this offshore installation. As a result, the wire rope was immediately ready for use upon delivery.
